The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.
Two teenagers who allegedly stole juice and sweatshirts from The Haverford School on Sunday night were identified on a security tape by a police officer who recognized them, Lower Merion police told news media on Monday afternoon. Sweatshirts, juice, water bottles and an Under Armour backpack were stolen from The Haverford School around 7 p.m. Sunday night, police said. Police said the school security guard spotted two teenagers in the school parking lot and tried to follow them, but eventually lost sight of them. A review of the security tape showed that the two teens entered the school through an open window, and took sweatshirts, juice, water bottles and an Under Armour backpack, according to police. A police officer who reviewed the …

The Haverford School and Haverford High School were among those recognized in the "Tony Awards for high school theater."
Sunday night, high school students from across the Philadelphia area put on gowns and tuxedos, walked a red carpet, and sang and danced the night away. No, it wasn't prom night—it was the Cappies Awards Gala, an awards ceremony celebrating the best of the Philadelphia region's high school theater productions. Representatives from 34 area high schools, including Haverford High School and The Haverford School, attended the awards ceremony—designed to be like the Tony Awards for high school students—at The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on Sunday night. The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center hosts the annual Cappies Gala for Theater Awards each year. With 34 area high schools participating in the Greater Philadelphia chapter of the …

The Fords had trouble converting free throws in crucial spots.
Shawn Alton pounded the ball hard on the court out of frustration when the final seconds ticked away. It was the exclamation point to another maddeningly tough loss for The Haverford School, after the Fords fell to Germantown Academy, 60-59, Friday night to drop to 5-3 in the Inter-Academic League and 15-8 overall. It should be noted the Fords played without 7-foot-junior exchange student Tao Xu, who was suspended for the game because he received two technical fouls and was ejected from the Fords’ previous game against Penn Charter, a Haverford School victory. It also should be noted that the second technical call came when Xu saluted the Haverford School fans that attended the game, something he’s done this whole season without receiving …

Joseph Cox recalls the joys and hardships of being the headmaster of the all-boys private school.
The Haverford School’s Headmaster Joseph T. Cox, Ph.D., announced that he will retire on June 30, 2013, after serving 15 years at the all-boys private school. Cox is the eighth headmaster in the school’s history and started his stead in 1998. But before he retires with his wife Kathy Stevenson to Lake Forest, Ill., Cox took a moment with Patch to share his thoughts on his long career as headmaster of the Main Line school and his pending retirement. Patch: After nearly 15 years as headmaster of The Haverford School, why did you decide to retire in June of 2013? Cox: At the end of next year I will have served Haverford for 15 years, a respectable tenure as a Headmaster in today's independent school world. I am currently 65 and should make …

He allegedly made off with $2,760 and drove away from the bank in a gold Toyota Avalon.
