State Police Report 1,494 Dec. Incidents, 189 Car Crashes

The Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks list the December incidents.

The following is a list of December incidents reported by the Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. There were a total of 1,494 incidents in December.  Traffic Crime   State Police remind everyone to wear seatbelts at all times and obey the posted speed limit. Also, do not leave items in plain view in your vehicle and lock your vehicle and residence. If you see suspicious activity, please call 911.

State Police Make 12 DUI Arrests Over New Year Holiday

The State Police increased enforcement efforts between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The Pennsylvania State Police in Troop K handled 45 crashes, with four being alcohol related, made 12 DUI arrests and issued 469 citations between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, the department is reporting. Troop K covers highways in Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery counties and numerous municipalities without police departments. During this time, extra efforts were made to ensure citizens could safely travel along the Commonwealth’s highways given the increased volume of traffic associated with the holiday. Through enforcement of motor vehicle laws, the Pennsylvania State Police attempted to reduce speeding, impaired driving and failure to use safety restraints.   This press release was provided by Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks.

State Police Report 13 Killed, 349 Injured Over Holiday Weekend

This year's 13 fatalities is an increase compared to last year's 10, during the official Thanksgiving holiday driving period.

Thirteen people were killed in crashes investigated by state troopers during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday driving period, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan announced this week. In addition to the 13 fatalities, 349 people were injured in 1,124 crashes troopers responded to during the official holiday driving period, Wednesday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 25. Five of the people killed were not wearing seat belts and two of the 13 fatal crashes were alcohol-related. Overall, 86 of the 1,124 total crashes were alcohol-related. "Drivers must insist that all passengers wear a seat belt. They work best when everyone is buckled and children are properly restrained in the back seat,’’ Noonan said in a press release. State Police to Increase Traffic Patrols Over Thanksgiving

The Pennsylvania State Police will step up its traffic enforcement over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Pennsylvania State Police will aggressively enforce motor vehicle laws over the Thanksgiving weekend due to increased traffic on the roadways. Troopers will be targeting DUI, speeding and seat belt violations. Troopers will also seek out and citing careless and aggressive drivers. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend also falls during the National Click It or Ticket campaign, which is underway until Dec. 2. Click It or Ticket focuses on the proper seat belt and child safety seat usage. Certified car seat technicians from PSP-Media Barracks will hold a child car seat event on Monday, Nov. 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the lot adjacent to the barracks at 1342 W. Baltimore Pike in Media. Does anyone track the crash locations based upon congested areas? Do these numbers tell us anything based upon comparison to other similar size communities. We must all work toward to reducing the DUI's. No matter what the cost be a good friend, citizen and motorists. State Police to Conduct Sobriety Check Point Over Memorial Day Weekend

The Pennsylvania State Police will step up its traffic enforcement and conduct a sobriety check point in Delaware County over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks will conduct a sobriety check point within Delaware County during the Memorial Day weekend. The State Police will also step up traffic enforcement over the holiday weekend due to the increased traffic on the roadways. Police will seek out and cite careless and aggressive drivers and arrest any impaired motorists. The State Police remind everyone to wear a seat belt and drive safely. Motorists are also reminded that they are required to slow down and use caution when they see law enforcement or an emergency vehicle stopped alongside the road with its lights flashing. Roving State Police Patrol Results in 4 DUI Arrests

The Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks conducted roving DUI patrols last weekend.

The Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks conducted roving DUI patrols last weekend. The Delaware County-wide patrols ran from 11 p.m. on March 2 to 4 a.m. on March 3, according to the State Police. The roving DUI operations resulted in the following arrests and citations.
