'Silver Linings Playbook' scored big in Delco Sunday night but not so much at the Oscars
The Llanerch Diner, where one famous scene of the film Silver Linings Playbook was shot was packed to capacity Sunday night. The legally allowed limit of 80 patrons at one time watched, waited and was prepared to celebrate eight Oscar wins with champagne toasts. In the end only one of the eight nominees took home a statue. Jennifer Lawrence took home the Academy Award for Best Actress, in part for the acting work she did at the Llanerch diner one fall evening back in 2011. In a night that saw Oscar gold spread among many of the nominees, no single film dominated. That includes Silver Linings Playbook. Out of eight nominations for Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence was the only winner at Sunday's Academy Awards. The actress scored an Oscar for her performance in the movie which features many scenes shot in and around Delaware County, including Haverford, Upper Darby and Ridley Park. As thousands of locals held their breath near the end of the long telecast, the movie finally, finally won an Oscar. As Jennifer Lawrence walked up the stage stairs to accept the award, something that in every day life is ok, but breath-stealing with one billion people watching happened. She tripped. The landmark Llanerch Diner is ready for its close-up during the Oscars. Silver Lining Playbook is getting more "Oscar buzz" at the corner of West Chester Pike and Township Line Road than anywhere except maybe in Hollywood... and maybe not even there. Llanerch Diner is not nominated but the people who came and shot there one day in late 2011 are. The diner plays a key role in one scene between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, who play the romantic leads in the story of their struggles to find love while coping with Bi-Polar disorder. Although "Best Supporting Diner" in a major motion picture is not one of the Oscar catergories, the folks at the Llanerch diner are prepared to celebrate every time the movie, which is up for Academy …
