Haverford MS Teachers Cut a Rug at Potter Cup

Haverford Middle School teachers perform a dance at the 2013 Potter Cup.

The rivalry between Haverford Middle School and Paxon Hollow Middle School in the annual Potter Cup is unmistaken but there may be an unsaid rivalry between the teachers as well.  Each year, the middle school teachers perform a dance in the pep rally benefitting Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. And, each year, the dances are different and more intricate for both schools.  Watch the video above to see this year's dance performed by Haverford Middle School teachers to a mash-up of currently popular songs. This year's Potter Cup, between the two schools, raised $40,000 to help benefit childhood cancer awareness.

Haverford Middle School Sweeps 10th Annual Potter Cup

The 10th annual Potter Cup raised $40,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand.

In 10 years, an impassioned rivalry between Paxon Hollow Middle School and Haverford Middle School has raised nearly $300,000 to fight childhood cancer. Gillian Kocher, spokesperson for Alex's Lemonade Stand, said the Potter Cup raised over $40,000 this year. The competition is a best two-out-of-three for girls' basketball, boys' basketball and wrestling. Haverford swept all three competitions. Alex's parents, Liz and Jay Scott, appeared at the Potter Cup's pep rally—on Jan. 18, what would have been Alex's 17th birthday—to give students words of thanks and encouragement. Haverford MS and Paxon Hollow Face Off for Potter Cup

The 10th annual competition, benefiting Alex's Lemonade, will be held on January 18.

The following was submitted by the School District of Haverford Township. Rival Middle Schools Haverford and Paxon Hollow will once again face-off in heated competition during the 10th Annual Potter Cup Friday, January 18, 2013 beginning at 2pm at Marple Newtown High School, 120 Media Line Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073 to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Students and teachers alike will participate in a pep-rally before reveling in competitions between the wrestling teams and boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. “The Potter Cup” will then be awarded to the school that wins two out of three of the sporting competitions.   Along with the sports related festivities, those in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy food, fun, …

Young Cancer Hero Who Spoke To Haverford Middle Schoolers Writes Blog

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation recently recognized Paxon Hollow Middle School student Cameron Mathes as a childhood cancer hero and featured him as their guest blogger.

Cameron Mathes, a cancer survivor and a Paxon Hollow Middle School student, was recently recognized by Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation as a childhood cancer hero. Mathes spoke before a crowd of Paxon Hollow and Haverford middle schoolers at this year's Potter Cup event at Haverford Middle School and shared his story of surviving cancer, inspring peers and teachers alike.
