Meet Haverford Middle School's choir teacher who recently helped the school's choir, 7th Heaven, achieve second place in B101's Christmas choir competition.
Haverford-Havertown Patch is featuring great area teachers who deserve some spotlight. Teachers give a lot to their students, schools and studies and we'd like to recognize them and say a simple, thank you, for all that they do. Though this is her first year at Haverford Middle School, this music teacher has already been in the spotlight, helping the school's choir, 7th Heaven, achieve second place in B101's Christmas choir competition. The Haverford Middle School choir Seventh Heaven placed second in B101 Radio's Christmas Choir contest for division 1.
After two days of voting and making it into the final round for B101 Radio's Christmas Choir contest, Haverford Middle School's choir Seventh Heaven placed second for division 1 on their rendition of "Carol of the Bells." Haverford Middle School beat out Eleanor Rush Intermediate School and Haddon Heights Elementary School in the semi-final rounds and came in just behind Saint Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School's concert choir's rendition of "Angels We Haver Heard on High." Third place for division 1 went to Cold Spring Elementary's sixth grade chorus for their rendition of "Hot Chocolate." Vote for Haverford Middle School's Choir Seventh Heaven into B101's Christmas Choir Contest final round on Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 9 p.m.
After a day of voting on Tuesday, the Haverford Middle School choir Seventh Heaven has made into the final round and still in the running to win B101's Christmas Choir Contest. The middle school choir still has a chance to win the grand prize: an $8,000 Cunningham piano and a chance to perform with the Philly Pops next Wednesday. Voting will continue for the choir on Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. The public can vote here for the choir on their performance of "Carol of the Bells." Seventh Heaven's performance of "Carol of the Bells" will be featured again on Thursday at 7 a.m. on B101's Tiffany and Michael morning talk show. The public can tune in at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and listen to Haverford Middle School's Select Choir 7th Heaven sing 'Carol of the Bells' in B101's Christmas Choir Competition. From 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., the public can vote for this local choir on B101's website here. Jackie Serratore, the new choral director at Haverford Middle School, told Patch she submitted the choir into the competition at the end of November with the help of a choir parent Michael Comstock. "He donated his time to record us one day after school and we submitted the mp3 to B101 that same week," said Serratore.
