Police allege Thomas Hillenbrand spent nearly $750 in a week.
A 31-year-old Havertown man stole his sister’s credit card last month and went on a spending spree, Haverford Township Police are reporting. Thomas William Hillenbrand, a resident of the 100 block of South Eagle Road, faces charges of accessing a device issued to another person who didn’t authorize use and receiving stolen property stemming from the series of alleged August and September purchases he made with his sister’s card. According to court documents, Hillenbrand’s sister, who he shares a residence with, contacted police on September 4 and told them her Capital One Visa card had been stolen from her apartment. She said she contacted the company and they told her that on August 31 three fraudulent transactions were made with the card…

Jordan Smith-Hobson confessed to robbing a second store in Chester as well.
A 20-year-old Ardmore man confessed last month to robbing a pair of 7-Eleven convenience stores over the summer, one of which is located in the Haverford area, the Delaware County Daily Times is reporting. According to the paper, Jordan Smith-Hobson, a resident of the 200 block of Delmont Avenue, told Haverford Police detective TJ Long and a Chester Police detective he robbed the 7-Elevens because he had a problem with drugs and alcohol and needed the money. The area store, located at 2606 Haverford Road, was robbed on August 13. The suspect, as he did in an August 5 7-Eleven robbery in Chester, had his face covered when he entered the store. An unidentified informant led police to Hobson, who confessed to the crimes on September 20.

An Ardmore man faces multiple assault charges after he got into a fracas with his ex-girlfriend and her 11- and 13-year-old daughters last week, Haverford Township Police are reporting. William Bryant Dupee, 37, faces five counts of simple assault and harassment stemming from the bizarre Sept. 24 incident. He was previously charged with simple assault in Haverford Township in November of 2010. According to court documents, Dupee’s ex-girlfriend told police she went to his Lorraine Street home with her two daughters the evening of Monday, Sept. 24 to return $100 he had lent her to buy him groceries. Scott Halter, 40, was ultimately charged with receiving stolen property.
A Havertown man was arrested at the Merion Golf Club last week after the car he was driving was flagged for its involvement in a recent hit-and-run, Haverford Township Police are reporting. Though Scott Halter, 40, ultimately wasn't charged with the more serious offense, during processing, police learned he had an outstanding bench warrant from out-of-state and he was charged with that crime. According to court documents, police were called to the golf course that evening because a suspicious Chevrolet Monte Carlo was parked in the club’s lot. According to a release from the Haverford Police Department, police responded to the following incidents Aggravated Assault at the 1100 block of W. Township Line Road on 9/3 @ 0122 hours - a subject driving a dark colored vehicle attempted to strike the victim while he was riding his bicycle. The victim then got off his bicycle to flee. The passenger of the vehicle opened the door and a gunshot was fired. Liquor Law Violation at the 500 block of Mill Road on 8/31 @ 2315 hours - Police were dispatched to the above residence for alcohol poisoning. Fraud at the 1400 block of Ashton Road on August 10 - victim reported that an unknown person fraudulently cashed twelve checks from his business account.
