The township commissioners approved a small set of changes at a recent meeting.
The township commissioners recently amended the rules that dictate the suspension and demotion of Haverford police officers, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. The rules changes, which got township regulations in line with the state’s, were described as “housekeeping” by Civil Service Commission solicitor David Rohde. Officers accused of offenses now have to be notified in writing within five days and get the opportunity to appeal. Officers, according to the rules, cannot be dismissed from the force for religious, racial, or political reasons, but, according to the paper, can be disciplined for neglect of official duty, intoxication while on duty, committing a felony or misdemeanor, incompetence, inefficiency, disobedience of …

Theft at Top Notch Roofing (200 block of West Chester Pike) on 11/28 at 7:12 a.m. Numerous tools totaling over $800 were taken from the rear of a truck. Aggravated Assault at the 100 block of West Chester Pike on 11/30 at 2:29 p.m. Police were dispatched to the above location to a Landlord/Tenant dispute. Upon arrival the defendant was observed on her third story fire escape. She used profane language, made several attempts to kick police and punched an officer in the chest. It was later identified as a pill bottle with 100 Oxycodone pills.
