Disciplinary Rules Changed for Haverford Police

The township commissioners approved a small set of changes at a recent meeting.

The township commissioners recently amended the rules that dictate the suspension and demotion of Haverford police officers, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. The rules changes, which got township regulations in line with the state’s, were described as “housekeeping” by Civil Service Commission solicitor David Rohde. Officers accused of offenses now have to be notified in writing within five days and get the opportunity to appeal. Officers, according to the rules, cannot be dismissed from the force for religious, racial, or political reasons, but, according to the paper, can be disciplined for neglect of official duty, intoxication while on duty, committing a felony or misdemeanor, incompetence, inefficiency, disobedience of …

Haverford Police: Attempted Burglary at Eagle Court Apartments

The incident occurred on December 4 at 3:49 p.m.

The following incident reports were provided by the Haverford Township Police Department. Arrest does not suggest conviction. Theft at Top Notch Roofing (200 block of West Chester Pike) on 11/28 at 7:12 a.m. Numerous tools totaling over $800 were taken from the rear of a truck. Aggravated Assault at the 100 block of West Chester Pike on 11/30 at 2:29 p.m. Police were dispatched to the above location to a Landlord/Tenant dispute. Upon arrival the defendant was observed on her third story fire escape. She used profane language, made several attempts to kick police and punched an officer in the chest. Bonita Rotoli was arrested and charged. The following information is provided by the Haverford Police Department.

Criminal Mischief at the Polo Field (900 block of Railroad Avenue) on 8/28 @ 1419 hours -Graffiti was discovered on the playground equipment.  Vandalism at the unit block of Tunbridge Road on 8/28 @ 1437 hours - vehicle windshield was shattered. Criminal Mischief at the 200 and 300 blocks of Buck Lane on 8/25 @ 1226 hours - multiple mailboxes were knocked over. Vandalism at the 300 block of Spring Road on 8/25 @ 1323 hours - vehicle was scratched. Vandalism at the 300 block of Virginia Avenue on 8/24 @ 1610 hours - residence was egged. Philadelphia Man Arrested on Narcotics Charge

The following information is provided by the Haverford Police Department.

According to a release from the Haverford Township Police Department, police responded to the following incidents: Narcotics at the 1200 block of Ellston Road on August 24 at 12:23 a.m. -   While conducting a vehicle stop the officer observed the passenger discard an unknown object from the window. It was later identified as a pill bottle with 100 Oxycodone pills. A 17-year-old from Philadelphia was charged with conspiracy, possession of prescription medication, corruption of minors, tampering with evidence, tint, Careless driving and speeding. According to a release from the Haverford Township Police Department, police responded to the following incidents: Theft at ACME 601 Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr on 8/15 - victim reports that her cell phone was stolen from the store. Theft at the 2900 block of Morris Road on 8/15- victim reports that a flower pot was stolen from the outside of his residence. Bicycle Theft at the 300 block of Steel Road on 8/18. Police: $700 lost in Havertown Fraud

The following information is provided by the Haverford Township Police Department.

According to a release from the Haverford Police Department, police responded to the following incidents: Fraud at the 400 block Mill Road, Havertown on Aug. 17 - victim reports renting a house for the weekend with a bogus address. Victim sent $700.00 money order to an address in Ohio. Listing was on Craig's list. Fraud at the 600 block of Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore on Aug. 17 - victim reports that numerous charges were made to his credit cards. Identity Theft at the 5000 block of Brittany Lane, Bryn Mawr on Aug. 17 - victim reports that an unknown person opened numerous credit card accounts in her name.

According to a release from the Haverford Township Police Department, police responded to the following incidients between August 16 and August 22: Criminal Mischief at the unit block of Cedarbrook Road on August 16 - victim reports that her neighbors' removed and discarded several bolts from there retaining wall which divides their property. According to a release from the Haverford Police Department, police responded to the following incidents between August 16 and August 22: Narcotics at Steel and Royal Avenues on August 15 at 8:14 p.m. - a 24-year-old Haverford man from the 500 block Royal Avenue was arrested on a narcotics warrant. Simple Assault at the 700 block of Hathaway Lane on August 16 at approximately 6 p.m. - officers responded to the above location for a domestic situation.
