The commissioners will vote on whether to spend $55,166 on two new Ford Explorers.
The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday night, before its regular meeting, to discuss a zoning change at 833 Buck Lane. The hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., "to propose revising [the township] Zoning map by reclassifying the zoning of the property at 833 Buck Lane, Haverford, PA, known as Delaware County Folio No. 22-05-00138-00, from R-1A Low-Density Residential to INS Institutional District." The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners could declare a Disaster Emergency in the wake of Hurricane Sandy at its Meeting Tuesday night. According to the commissioners' agenda posted on the Haverford Township website, the commissioners will vote on a motion to declare a disaster emergency in Haverford township, which would allow the township's emergency management coordinator to "take all appropriate aid action needed to alleviate the effete of the disaster and authorize the township to act as necessary." The Haverford Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A mid-year snapshot of the township's budget shows some expected numbers, township officials say there are things to watch.
In a presentation to the township commissioners on Monday, Haverford township manager Lawrence Gentile said that the 2012 township budget is “holding it together” thanks to cost-saving measures and realistic revenue forecasting. “Overall, revenues are holding steady, but there are some areas we need to watch,” he said. In a presentation put together by Gentile and township director of finance Aimee Cuthbertson, the manager presented a “snapshot” of the township’s mid-year finances that found its current budget similar to its 2011budget. “There are really no big variances between where we were last year and where we are this year,” Cuthbertson said. The commissioners will also hear from the police committee regarding the township’s K9 unit. The first deadline in Haverford's 2013 budget is coming in early August.
By the end of the week, Haverford will be one step closer to assembling its 2013 budget. According to a release from on the township’s website, Friday, August 3 represents the first deadline developing Haverford’s operating budget for the coming year. Department heads have until Friday to review budgets with committee chairs. The release states that a budget adoption schedule was sent to “various citizens groups, township commissions and boards, posted in the board of commissioners’ meeting room, public areas, websites, cable-tv and newspapers,” before the August 3 deadline. The township manager will present his budget to the Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, October 31.

There is no commissioners meeting August 6.
Those planning to attend the Haverford Board of Commissioners work session meeting should cancel their plans. The board announced on the township's website that it has canceled its August 6 work session. The board's regular meeting is still scheduled for August 13 at 7:30 p.m. Check back with Patch for coverage of the meeting. According to the minutes from the commissioners June meeting, recent issues include parking permits for specific streets in the township and the announcement of a August 13 meeting to discuss changes to the zoning code.
