32 Hours in Line for 52 Weeks of Doughnuts

A Springfield man sums up his time in line waiting to be the first customer at the new Havertown Krispy Kreme store.

  Timothy Folkomer has a PhD in the sciences but he didn't need a dissertation to sum up his experience waiting in line for 32 hours to be the first customer at the new Krispy Kreme story in Havertown's Manoa Shopping Center. "Doc" has his business card identifies him, tells Patch he met a lot of nice people. In fact by the time the store opened for customers at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday (the store's normal opening time from Wednesday forward will be 6 a.m.), he had more than 150 fellow doughnut fans with him in line. Why Wait 32 Hours? Folkomer was first in line when he arrived on Sunday a little after 10 a.m.. For his patience he gets a coupon book for 52 free dozens of doughnuts. Tax laws apply whether you receive forms or not. Income is income. You're right about deductions for donations to qualifying organizations, if he's making such donations. Merely giving things to people less fortunate doesn't meet the criterion.   more ›

Countdown to Krispy Kreme is On

Patch takes you into the kitchen for a sneak preview of the popular doughnuts hot off the iine.

  Delaware County's newest and only Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop is set to open Tuesday morning in the Manoa Shopping Center in Haverford. The store's owner, managers and crew spent Saturday morning going through their paces and hosting a special preview for business and government VIPs and the news media. The store is the fourth for the Philadelphia area Krispy Kreme franchisees but the first in Delaware County. The last Krispy Kreme in the county was in Springfield under different ownership but closed several years ago. That building is now the site of Chic-Fil-A on Baltimore Pike. The Manoa Shopping Center store will open to the public on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m.. The first customer in line will win free doughnuts each week for a year…

Krispy Kreme in the Home Stretch to Manoa

A new doughnut shop is coming, and they're hiring.

  The new Krispy Kreme Doughnut store in Haverford is now just three weeks from opening, according to signs on the door of the shop in the Manoa Shopping Center. The store's grand opening is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, according to the sign posted on the door. The store is also looking for employees. Report: Krispy Kreme Coming to Haverford

The decadent doughnuts will be sold in Manoa Shopping Center, according to the Daily Times.

The former Verizon store in Manoa Shopping Center will soon be home to a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop, according to a recent article in the Delaware County Daily Times: Franchisee Brian Zaslow told the paper, “You can’t get a hot doughnut anywhere else.
