Taking a page from the Transportation Safety Administration's playbook, race organizers are mandating runners use clear plastic drawstring bags, which will be handed out at the expo Friday and Saturday, to stow their gear this year. “You are strongly encouraged to bring as little as possible with you to the start of the race,” race organizers said in the email to runners. “All items brought into the start area are subject to search and/or confiscation.” Race organizers only indicated backpacks would be …

Hilltop softball squads brave a chilly twilight.
The Pelicans of the Haverford Township Hilltop Softball league didn't let a bracing April chill stop them from taking the field Monday at Steel Field in a game against the Force. The 11 and 12-year-old girls on the field seemed to be weathering the twilight temperatures in the low 50's better than some of the spectators who bundled up in blankets to and coats to cheer on their teams.
