Police Get Havertown Burglary Calls

Read about two recent incidents.

  Police were called to the 300 block of Oxford Road on May 12 at 8:45 a.m. for the report of a burglary. According to police, someone went into the victim's home though an unlocked door and stole $31 and car keys from her purse. The following day, police were called to the 2700 block of Chestnut Avenue around 3 a.m. for the report of someone trying to break into a home. According to police, a 51-year-old Havertown man was found on the home's porch. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and institutional vandalism.

13-Year-Old Girl Missing

The teen was last seen in the company of an adult male.

Chester and Montgomery counties have issued alerts for a 13-year-old girl from Reading, who was last seen Wednesday. Destiny Hernandez is described by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as an endangered runaway. Destiny may be in the company of an adult male. She has a scar on her left hand. When Destiny was last seen, she had red and orange highlights in her hair. -according to her missing poster. Hernandez is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should call the Reading Police Department at (610) 655-6116.

Need a Bike for a Good Price?

The Haverford Township Police bike auction may be a good option.

  Bicycles that have been found and remain unclaimed will be auctioned off at the Haverford Township Police Department, 1010 Darby Road in Havertown on Saturday, May 18. According to police, the auction will take place rain or shine in the property's back parking lot. The auction begins at 9:30 a.m., but bikes can be previewed starting at 9 a.m.

Fights Reported to Haverford Police

The fights took place at Saint Denis Fair and Haverford Middle School.

  Haverford Township Police received two recent reports of fights. On May 2 police were called to Haverford Middle School in the 1800 block of Darby Road at 1:30 p.m. According to police, a boy punched another student in the jaw, causing a bruise. The following evening police responded to the Saint Denis Fair in the 300 block of E. Eagle Road at 9 p.m. for the report of a fight.
