@Gerson Goldstein You can say God in school, just like the Klan can say what they wish. SchoolsRead More can't force God on kids. You don't seem to understand the 1st Amendment.

KKK breaks into a few homes and then comes to the rescue. An age old strategy.

I think it is past time to legalize pot. We need to take the criminal element out of thisRead More recreational drug. I don't think pot is any more damaging than drinking.

If they put up a new statue, it should be one of Joe Pa in a 'sombre pose' with children standingRead More next to him and his arms outward each way with an inscription that says; "In hindsight, I wish I had done more" It will show that Joe Pa, as great as he was, is human and made the wrong decision. Joe Pa, being the great mentor that he was, will teach us a lesson for the ages.
Joan April 24, 2014 at 04:55 pm
Very interesting all the above comments. However what about those at CYS who investigated SanduskyRead More back in the late 90's and did nothing. What about the victim who offered to testify for Sandusky and then went the other way. What about the man who witnessed the whole thing in the shower and did not stop it immediately. There is a whole bunch ofpeople who need to be held to the same as Joe Pa. Joe did report it to his superiors but I would think after they knew that this man who was very upstanding in the community was investigated by CYS without any charges the University might have been afraid of a law suit from Sandusky himself who to this day denies the allegations. Why did it take so long for so many to come forth. If you all know those answers please reply.
Fred Gluck April 24, 2014 at 07:21 am
If you don't like the law, work to change it, until then obey the law. Did you see the Journal ofRead More Neuroscience study released on Monday? Light regular use of marijuana causes brain damage. Do you really think smoke inhalation of any kind is okay? After a fire you get transported to the hospital for treatment if you live. Ban cigarette smoking, but not marijuana? As a libertarian I don't believe we should prohibit it's use. I do think we as a society should encourage factual debate, including that the #1 problem that people seek treatment for dependency is marijuana.

The police walked past the liqueur cabinet to confiscate the mind altering, brain damagingRead More marijuana.
Jim Heffner April 24, 2014 at 11:07 am
Fred Gluck, some questions for you. How many of the people who are reported as in treatment areRead More real people and not part of a scam? How many people in treatment for Cannabis "addiction" are there voluntarily? How many of these are misdiagnosed(from working in the addictions field I can tell you a lot of normal teenage rebellion is lumped under this)? Wait a while for some peer reviews on the rest.

I don't disagree with you that we're becoming less and less a free country but it's wrong to blameRead More democrats alone. It wasn't dems alone that passed the patriot act. It hasn't been dems alone that have been re-uping it since it was passed the first time. On how bad Hillary will be as a president. Every president is bad in some ways. Reagan raised taxes more than a dozen times. Bush took us to war on two fronts with no way to pay for it. Clinton signed DOMA and DADT. Obama gave away the farm in order to get the Affordable Care Act passed. Papa Bush said that atheists shouldn't be considered Americans. Sure Hillary will be a bad president in some ways.... they are all bad in some way. I can tell you this much though, any president is going to be a worse president when the publicly stated goal of the opposition is to obstruct that president at any and all opportunities. The dems did it to Bush. The republican'ts are doing it to Obama. It's like Palestine and Israel, they'll fight to the death out of spite and habit, neither one of them knowing which one threw the first punch and not caring because winning is the only goal. What America needs are citizens that go into government for the good of the country instead of the good of their party.
Michael Hipp April 24, 2014 at 03:03 pm
Oh, one last point on your last post B. Dub. "Hillary presidency combined with a DemocraticRead More Congress." Ain't gonna happen. Republicant's have gerrymandered the states to absolute death. They have the House for the foreseeable future and they have a good chance at getting the Senate. I can't guarantee you who's going to win in 2016 but I can very well guarantee you that no one party will take executive and legislative branches, both.

I was in the car with a friend, once; he was driving. Upon seeing a large SUV with its driverRead More holding a phone to their ear, my friend pointed at the driver and started telling me about how dangerous "distracted drivers" are. Well, while pointing and ranting, my friend had swerved over the line and dangerously close to hitting the large SUV, which was on a steady course in the middle of its lane. The moral of this story is that "distracted drivers" are not always who you'd expect.

Sure Ed, makes sense to ban someone who cares about the world we I've in.
Scott Ritchie April 23, 2014 at 03:29 pm
The only positive effect I have seen is that a review of the phone of a driver who was involved in aRead More fatal accident showed that he was texting at the time and it added to the "he was stupid and careless" evidence. Personally, I would love to see a law against "driving like an idiot" which would cover texting, phone, putting on makeup, reading a book held on your steering wheel, changing clothes, etc... all of which I have seen on 422
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Michigan's ban on affirmative action in college admissions.

@Charles Taite - As one of the commentators responding to and to whom Black Panther of PoetryRead More responded I happen to agree with you. Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup!
