Delco SPCA Celebrates Phillies Opening Day with Discounts

The Delco SPCA is hosting an Opening Day Weekend adoption event where visitors will be eligible for $1 adoptions, pictures with the newest Phillies Ballgirl, dollar dogs, a bake sale and a raffle basket full of Phillies merchandise.

The lifesaving Delco SPCA is ecstatic that the Philadelphia Phillies season is underway. In celebration of their return to Philadelphia, is hosting an Opening Day Weekend adoption event on Saturday and Sunday where visitors will be eligible for $1 adoptions with no exclusions, pictures with the newest Phillies Ballgirl, dollar dogs, a bake sale and a raffle basket full of Phillies merchandise.

Visit the Delaware County SPCA at 555 Sandy Bank Road, in Media, on Saturday from 12-7pm or Sunday from 12-4pm to take part in the Opening Day Weekend adoption event.

Surprise, no exclusion “ticket stubs” as low as $1 and 50 percent off will be drawn upon the time of adoption on Saturday or Sunday and the discount can be taken off of already discounted fees such as animals a part of the monthly “Home Team” special, which are 50 percent off, or the “Most Wanted Rookies,” which are a $20.12 adoption fee in April.

Phillies Ballgirl Alicia will be posing for pictures and signing autographs at the Adoption Center on Saturday from 12-1:30pm. A Phillies basket full of merchandise donated from the Phillies Clubhouse and a deluxe pet basket will be raffled off. Dollar hot dogs, a bake sale, popcorn and cool merchandise will all be available.

“There’s no coincidence that we named some of our animals after the championship-winning club,” says Delaware County SPCA spokeswoman Justina Calgiano. “We’re hoping it brings the team luck to win another World Series this year!”

Mayberry, an adult Spaniel/Retriever mix named after his favorite player outfielder John Mayberry, Jr., will be available for adoption this weekend.

For extra luck in the Phillies series against the Mets this weekend and in hopes of finding forever homes, cats and dogs available for adoption will don baseball handkerchiefs.

Adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, appropriate inoculations, microchip ID and registration, a bag of food and a complimentary vet visit.

It’s safe to say that the Delaware County SPCA has high hopes for the Phillies as well as for the animals to find permanent, loving homes.
