Top Places to Stay Cool in Havertown and Haverford

We're having a heat wave. Find the best places to cool off locally.

The Philadelphia area is under a excessive heat warning all week with heat indexes expected to top 100 degrees.

Staying cool is not just about comfort, for some people it’s about safety. Weather like this puts everyone, but especially the very young and older adults, at risk.

Here’s Haverford Patch’s list of the top places to keep cool around town:

1. Haverford Township Free Library: The library's hours are Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. Haverford Township's Skatium: Quite literally the *coolest* place in town.

3. Haverford Township's CREC is cooled by environmentally-friendly geo-thermal air conditioning. You can walk the indoor track, work out or shoot hoops in the gymnasium.

4. The AMC Marple 10, Bryn Mawr Film Institute and Narberth Theater are your closest options if you want to spend a few hours in a very cool, very dark atmosphere.

5. The Mall: Have you been to the King of Prussia Mall lately? It’s big, nicely air conditioned. You can shop if you want or just walk around looking at the sights. It has a small indoor playground in the court by Pottery Barn Kids.
