Mark Teixeira Named 'Commissioner of Patch Baseball'

The partnership with the superstar first baseman will offer exclusive benefits to young athletes and little league coaches in 850+ Patch communities.

Mark Teixeira—the four-time Gold Glove Award winner, first baseman for the New York Yankees and —has partnered with Patch news sites nationwide as the "Commissioner of Patch Baseball."

The two-time all-star played baseball for the Severna Park recreational baseball team and is featured on its website.

Teixeira will interact with Patch readers from Haverford Township and beyond by regularly responding to questions, sharing baseball tips and posting exclusive videos, according to an AOL news release. Teixeira will also offer young athletes advice on how to stay in shape and why healthful eating is so important for optimal performance.

“I live in a Patch town now and I keep tabs on my original hometown via the Patch site there, so I’ve seen the ways that Patch supports its communities,” commented Teixeira. “I’m excited to be a part of that by connecting with Patch users who have the same passion for baseball that I do. I’m eager to see what kinds of questions they toss my way!"

Teixeira was featured talking in a in November while in New York City when he stopped by a , where he let everyone know he visits both the Severna Park Patch and Greenwich Patch in Maryland to keep up with hometown news at both sites.

Patch has long been a supporter of local athletics, having sponsored more than a hundred teams and sporting events in Patch towns in its three-year history, including more than 60 little league teams, according to the release.
