Cecily Tynan Among Philly Runners Seeing Red

Philadelphia's runners are showing support for Boston with their socks during the Broad Street Run.

Participants in the Broad Street Run are planning to show their support for the city of Boston.

From the City of Brotherly Love, one popular way to show the love is apparently through one's socks. According to a recent Philly Mag blogger, and a Facebook group that has more than 1,000 members, many area sporting good stores are stocking up on red socks.

Those participating in the Broad Street Run, slated for Sunday, May 5, are planning to wear red running socks to show the love for Boston. Get it? Red ... Sox ...

Action News' Cecily Tynan Preps Red Socks

Runner and Action News meteorologist Cecily Tynan told her Twitter followers this weekend, "Tried out my red compression socks in a tempo run 2day. Test everything out b4 race day!"

If you're wondering where she got her pair, she says, "Bryn Mawr Running Company. 100% of proceeds go to #OneFundBoston."

Bryn Mawr Running Company has stores in Bryn Mawr, Media and Manayunk.

Security Will Be Huge

While the run's increased security will serve as a reminded of the events of the Boston Marathon, at least this showing will be one of solidarity and not one of safety.

Are you planning to wear red socks at the Broad Street Run? Are you going to watch the run? Tell us in the comments below.

Johnny I absolutely love your comments. She's such a tool.

If either of you had any intelligence or sensitivity to the senseless violence on Patriots Day you'd understand the patriotism Cecily is promoting. I appreciate her desire to try out different socks ahead of a 10 mile run as her wisdom and experience requires. There's nothing worse than a blister on a long run, but I don't expect everyone to know what it takes to be fit and be able to complete 10 miles in about an hour like Cecily can.

Why so hostile? She's incredibly competent as a meteorologist. And, would you rather she stand there with a cig in her mouth and a bottle of Jack than promote good health? Every newscast she's on is #1 ... the other stations can't touch channel 6: they have 100% more viewers than the next one.

Oh I don't question my patriotism at all. I'm wearing my red socks too. I know her. I think she's a fool

Oh I doubt very much that she's a fool. I think you're jealous of her success or have some other issue. You call her names and say you know her. She's a hard working meteorologist and wife and mother of 2 who finds time to train for 10 mile races. It's easy to call famous successful people names
