School Board Member Tapped for Second Award

Two weeks after accepting an Engineer of the Year Award, another honor is bestowed upon Joseph Martin.

Haverford Township School Board member Joseph Martin has been chosen for a second engineering award, this one from the American Society of Civil Engineers Philadelphia Section.

Martin—an engineering professor at Drexel University—received the first award two weeks ago, from the Delaware County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers.

At Thursday night’s school board meeting, school board President Denis Gray asked Martin if it was true that he had been chosen to receive a second engineering award.

Martin said he had been named Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers Philadelphia Section.

“It just blows me away,” Martin told the Haverford-Havertown Patch when he was asked about the award after the meeting.  “It’s my second one of the year.”
