What do you like most about your job? Being able to transform the world, even if it just the bit you can hold in you hand, a ball of clay, a piece of paper, a digital image, is a powerful experience. Guiding my students so they can access that power to make something beautiful, expressive, or useful is very satisfying, and often a great deal of fun.
Why did you become a teacher? I became a teacher because I didn't want to be a starving artist. I have remained a teacher because I enjoy teaching.
What do you like best about your current school (projects, programs or activities that your school is a part of): This is my second year teaching at Haverford High along with fellow art teachers Mark Wangberg and Jill Viguers. We are making exciting changes and improvements to the Fine Art Department, including a brand new computer graphics lab, an expanded Ceramics program, and new offerings in Art, Crafts, and Fashion Design. I come to work everyday looking forward to learning a bit more about the creative process with my student artists.
