Havertown Resident Signs to Play Division I Lacrosse

Havertown resident Bridget Chakey signed a commitment letter Monday, November 18 with Syracuse University to continue her lacrosse career at the Division I level. Chakey will graduate from The Agnes Irwin School in June 2014.

Havertown resident Bridget Chakey signed a commitment letter Monday, November 18 with Syracuse University to continue her lacrosse career at the Division I level. Chakey will graduate from The Agnes Irwin School in June 2014.

Since her sophomore year at Agnes Irwin, Chakey has demonstrated athleticism in multiple sports, having been a member of the basketball, cross country and lacrosse teams. Chakey, who is also Student Body President of her class, plays midfield for Agnes Irwin as well as for her club team, Phantastix.

“Chakey is a lefty with great field vision and finishing style,” said Agnes Irwin Varsity lacrosse coach, Jenny Duckenfield.  “Her work ethic is truly second to none.”

The skilled playmaker, who earned her captain position in her junior and senior years, is coming off of a great season with 52 assists and 40 goals scored.

Off the field, Chakey has been a member of multiple clubs at Agnes Irwin, including Model UN, Choir, Instrumental Ensemble, and Student Government. Her athletic accomplishments boast All Main Line Lacrosse Honorable Mention in 2011, Lacrosse Unsung Hero Award in 2011, All Interacademic Honorable Mention in 2012, and Maximum Exposure Rising Junior All-Star in 2012, to name but a few.
