Haverford Township School Solicitor Tapped As District's Human Resources Director

Gregg Parker will serve a dual role when Nancy Donahue retires.

The Haverford Board of School Directors on Thursday night appointed school district solicitor Gregg Parker to replace Assistant Superintendent Nancy Donahue as director of human resources when Donahue retires.

Parker, who has been Haverford School District’s solicitor for 15 years, will also continue to serve as the district’s legal counsel, a measure which will save the district money, School Board President Denis Gray said.

The school board voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Parker as director of human resources and general counsel, effective on or around Feb. 6, 2012, through June 30, 2015, at an annual salary of $145,000, pro-rated, subject to finalization of and legal review of a written contract.

A graduate of Swarthmore College and the Dickinson School of Law at Penn State, Parker lives in Haverford Township, where he coaches Little League and three of his four children currently attend district schools, Gray said.

Donahue plans to retire in the spring, after more than 30 years with the district.  The school board approved Donahue’s retirement—which will become effective April 24, 2012—at a September board meeting.
