Archdiocese: Press Conference At 3 p.m. For Fate of Appealing Schools

In an email to the media, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that there will be a 3 p.m. press conference this afternoon at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center Auditorium at  222 North 17th St., Philadelphia.

"Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., will make an announcement regarding the future of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia following the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission in January. The final decisions regarding the four high schools, Conwell-Egan Catholic High School; Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls; Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School; and West Philadelphia Catholic High School will be announced," the emailed press release stated.

the archdiocese explained to Patch that it was not sure if there will be a press conference either today or sometime next.

Rev. James Olson, president of Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High Schools, could not be reached for comment, but he told Patch earlier that he hopes to hear the fate of his two schools soon.
