Dave Fowler became only the third male athlete from Haverford HS to receive a Cross Country medal at the State Championships.
Here is Dave's road to the state medal: Finished 4th place in Delco's at Rose Tree Park, Finished 4th in Central League Champs at Rose Tree Park, Finished 16th in Districts at Lehigh University, Finished 23rd in State Championships at Hershey on November 2.
Dave fell during the first mile of the State Champs race which makes his finish even more remarkable. He decided to relax and regain his composure while working his way back in the pack. The last 1/2 mile he heard the spectators yelling out places like 30, 29, 28, 27 and knew that he was close to medal competition at 25. He pushed through the last hill to the finish line. While running uphill he passed five runners and finished 23rd earning himself a medal.
