HAVERTOWN - In preparation for a visit from One Book, One Philadelphia Author Kevin Powers, Haverford High School students welcomed a panel of seven local veterans to discuss service in the US Military in combat and support roles. In conjunction with the Haverford Township Library, Haverford High School is the only Suburban location that the One Book. One Philadelphia author Kevin Powers, a winner of the 2013 PEN/Hemingway Award for first fiction, Guardian First Book Award for 2012, and a National Book Award finalist for his novel, The Yellow Birds, will visit. On Thursday, the students had the opportunity to ask the Veterans questions and hear their stories. The public is invited to hear Mr. Powers at Haverford High School on March 18 at 9am in the Auditorium.
