Haverford High National Business Honor Society Induction

By: Emily Kribbs, NBHS Secretary and HHS Senior

Thursday, November 21st was the second annual induction ceremony for Haverford's National Business Honor Society. The night was a success with friends and family coming to support both the inductees and returning members.

Being inducted into the National Business Honor Society is based on being of Junior or Senior status, having completed at least 3 of the 10 Business classes with a GPA of 3.5 and an overall GPA of 3.3. The students had to complete an application that demonstrates their passion of the 4 cornerstones of the Society: Scholarship, Community Service, Character and Leadership.

The ceremony began with a lovely vocal performance by the school's chamber choir, singing Haverford's alma mater and the national anthem. The evening’s Keynote Speaker was Villanova University Senior and Finance & Real Estate Major, Mike O’Neill. He truly represented Villanova with the greatest respect. His speech was focused around making the best out of college by developing meaningful relationships and excelling not just inside the classroom, but participating in academic clubs, sports, and campus life. He captured the room with his personal life experiences of the college search, college life and preparing for a successful business career. He talked about his love of Villanova and how the business program has meant so much to him in preparing him to start his finance career after Graduation. To end the ceremony, Mrs. Mini and Mrs. McCarty, the Chapter’s Advisors and Business Teachers, lead the members in reciting the honorary oath and then individually announcing the inductees. Finally Joanna Dinoulis, president of NBHS, wrapped up the night by thanking all for coming.
