Saint Laurence School Donates Thanksgiving Meals to More Than 20 Local Families

Students brought in hundreds of items to fill Thanksgiving baskets, which were delivered to local families.

Saint Laurence Student Council organized a food drive that collected Thanksgiving Dinners for more than 20 area residents this holiday season.

Each grade was assigned a non-perishable food to bring in; from pancake mixes and syrup to canned vegetables and stuffing.  Student Council members, consisting of representatives in grades five through eight, went around to classrooms and collected the items during school, and stayed after school Wednesday to make up the baskets.

Local community members dropped off turkeys to the school on Nov. 20 and 21, to complete dinners.

On Saturday, Lakash Constructors, Inc., of Ambler, has also been collecting food, and will supplement the Saint Laurence collection – right down to the Thanksgiving centerpieces – before the baskets are delivered to parish families in need on Saturday. Nov. 23.
