There Could Be Money Waiting For You, Right Now!

Hello neighbors. I am looking for a few people. Does anyone know where Havertown residents Raymond Quinn, David Galgon, or Brett Eisman can be located? Or the former officers of the Hour Glass Cleaners or Tanglewood Painting, or Morning Wings Associates?

Those names and addresses were published last week in the bar association legal journal, as being people entitled to unclaimed property held for them by the Pennsylvania Treasury Unclaimed Property Bureau. You see, Pennsylvania businesses are required to turn over any and all unclaimed property to the state, and stiff penalties apply to any business that fails to comply. Then, the Pennsylvania Treasury Department tries to match the property with the owner. They do this by publishing names in the legal journal and some newspapers, as well as maintaining a web site.

I found it advantageous to check the web site (click here for the web site) even if you don’t see your name published. On a whim, I checked my name and found some money left for me at an address I left years ago.  I am used to the site and the process of filing claims, because we regularly check it when probating an estate, and we often find something. It may take a minute to read the instructions about how to claim your money, but anyone can do it.

The older we get, the more places we have been, the more likely we are to leave something behind. So, if you know a local senior, check under their name and let them know there is something available for them. If they do not have Internet access, they can call (800) 379-3999 or (800) 222-2046 to file a claim by phone.

Stay well until the next post.
