Delco Celebrates 'Honor a Veteran Day' Saturday

The Pennsylvania Coalition of Motorcyclists hosts "Honor a Veteran Day" at the Fair Acres care facility on Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m.

 

LIMA–One hundred thirty veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam from Delaware County will be presented with honorary lapel pins, certificates and American flags during the sixth annual "Honor a Veteran Day" celebration. 

"We invite people to join us as we pay homage to and visit with these veterans of our nation's armed forces who reside at Fair Acres," said PCOM (Pennsylvania Coalition of Motorcyclists) Delaware County Chapter President Robert "Butch" Ferguson in a press release.

The program unites PCOM members with County Council Vice-Chairman Mario J. Civera Jr., U.S. Navy veteran and Pennsylvania Rep. Stephen E. Barrar, and a U.S. Air Force veteran. 

"As a veteran, and as county council's liaison to Fair Acres, I want to convey how much we appreciate that PCOM organizes this special tribute to our veterans at Fair Acres," Civera said.

Other organizers of the event include Bikers Against Child Abuse of Delaware County, the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club, VFW Post 598 and the military Order of Purple Heart, Veterans Chapter 63. 

"Honor a Veteran Day" will take place in the main lounge of building 8, the high-rise building.
