County Libraries Help Residents to Get Financially Fit

A grant was given out to Delaware County libraries to help residents to be financially better off.

A nearly $100,000 grant has been given to Delaware County libraries to help residents to become financially fit.

The Delaware County Council and the Delaware County Library System (DCLS) announced that county libraries will provide a free series of presentations and materials to help people of all ages and economic levels to be in a better financial place, a council press release stated.

The American Library Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Investor Education Foundation awarded a $97,470 grant to DCLS and the Library Foundation of Delaware County to provide a two-year financial education program, called MoneySmart@your library, that is broken up into three levels:

“The MoneySmart program will be a great resource for our residents, especially during tough economic times when people need to manage their money very carefully,” stated County Councilman John McBlain, the council’s liaison to DCLS, the press release. “This is one more example of how important our libraries are to the community, as a place where people can easily access many resources, including computer access.”
