County Dedicates New Veterans Affairs Office

The Delaware County Council dedicated the new Delaware County Veterans Affairs office on Tuesday.

According to the county, the council moved the Veterans Affairs Department to a prominent position in the lobby to provide easy access for veterans and their family members when they visit the office to apply for or inquire about veterans programs and benefits for which they may be eligible.

The new office is located next to the Armed Services Tribute Board, which recognizes the men and women of Delaware County who are actively serving in the military.

County residents are encouraged to write to soldiers abroad who are listed on Delaware County’s Armed Services Tribute Board.

The Veterans Affairs Department helps returning veterans as well as those who served in previous military commitments to access veterans’ benefits, including federal and state, to which they are entitled.

The new office will feature display items on loan from the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum.

Radnor Township is also inviting residents and members of the community to join the township in honoring local troops by .

At the dedication on Tuesday, Delaware County Council welcomed U.S. Marines Lance Cpl. John Patrick Quinn IV of Ridley Township and Lance Cpl. Christopher Showman of Secane, home from their first tour in Afghanistan.

Marine Lance Cpl. Anthony Stea of Folcroft, who is in Afghanistan, was also honored as his wife placed his military photo on the Delaware County Armed Services Tribute Board in the Government Center lobby.
