Council Honors 2011 Drug Awareness Student Poster Winners

During its Wednesday meeting, the Delaware County Council awarded the young winners of the 2011 alcohol, tobacco and drug awareness student poster contest.

The awards were presented to about 15 students—from kindergarten through eighth grade—for their entries in the 24th annual Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Awareness Poster contest, explained council member David White.

Funded by the county council through the County Office of Behavioral Health and coordinated by Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems, the winners will have their posters featured in the 2013 Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Awareness Calendar, said White.

“The judging process was very difficult with so many great entries,” White said. “A group of prevention professionals made the first cuts, choosing the best posters from each category. The remaining posters were posted anonymously for the final voting process. The winning students (will) receive gift cards.”
