Two Car Accident Snarls Busy Haverford Corner

Witnesses tell Patch what happened when the light at a busy intersection turned green.

Haverford Township Police are investigating a two car crash in the middle of a busy intersection Thursday night.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Steel Road and North Drexel Avenue, in front of Hope United Methodist Church.

Witnesses on the scene told Patch that a Ford Focus was making a left turn onto northbound Drexel Avenue when it crossed into the path of oncoming white Subaru station wagon that was crossing Drexel, westbound on Steel Road.

The conditions of the drivers and passengers was not immediately known, but people from both cars were being treated on the scene by EMT and ambulance crews.  At least one woman was reportedly going to be taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Airbags deployed in the Subaru and the front ends of both cars were severely damaged in wreck. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
