Three Hospitalized for Alcohol Poisoning at Homecoming Dance

Nine Haverford High students were cited for underage drinking.

Haverford High School’s homecoming dance was tarnished last week when nine attendees were cited for underage drinking, three of whom had to be hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.

According to Haverford Police Sergeant Shant Bedrosian, the first call regarding misbehavior at the November 21 dance came in at approximately 8 p.m. By 9:07 p.m. the department had issued citations to nine students; six of whom were released to their parents and three who had to be taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital because of the extent of their intoxication.

“It was clear they needed medical attention,” said Bedrosian, who declined to provide comment on whether the students had imbibed at the dance or before they came.
