Police: Man Accidentally Drives Over Wife, Daughter

Both wife and daughter were taken to hospitals for severe injuries.

An 89-year-old man accidentally backed his vehicle into his wife and daughter, resulting in severe injuries to both women on Monday morning, the stated.

In an email to the media, the police released a press release about an accident that occurred Monday at 9:27 a.m. at the 500 block of Harrington Road in Havertown.

According to the press release, the man was in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in the driveway of the residence while his 62-year-old daughter was helping his 85-year-old wife into the front passenger seat when the man “accidently stepped on the accelerator pedal causing the vehicle to travel backwards knocking the two females to the ground. Both females sustained serious injuries.”

The man’s daughter suffered head and chest trauma and a PennStar helicopter took her to the University of Pennsylvania, while the man’s wife suffered moderate to severe injuries to her lower torso, the press release stated.

The man’s wife was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The police are still investigating the accident, the press release stated.
