Police: Copper Piping Theft Causes Gas Leak in Home

The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 27.

Theft at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on January 23 at 10:43 p.m. A laptop was stolen from an unattended backpack.

Fraud at the 1600 block of E. Darby Road on January 23 at 11:30 a.m. Victim reported that a person known to him made several unauthorized purchases with his credit card.

Theft at Haverford College (500 block of Panmure Road) on January 24 at 3:08 p.m. Victim reported that personal property, including an i-pod dock, comforters, shower caddy and candle holders were stolen from a community storage unit.

Retail Theft at Kohl's (200 block of West Chester Pike) on January 24 at 4:38 p.m. Brittani Ferris, 22, 1600 block of West Chester Pike, West Chester was cited for the retail theft of $112 worth of merchandise and Ahmeesha Hester, 22, 1600 block of West Chester Pike, West Chester, was cited for the retail theft of $44 worth of merchandise.

Theft at the 100 block of S. Manoa Road on January 24 at 8:34 a.m. Two unlocked vehicles were entered - loose change was stolen.

Disorderly Conduct at the Wine and Spirits Shop (1300 block of West Chester Pike) on January 24 at 2:08 p.m. Police responded to the above location for a young male soliciting passerby's to purchase him alcohol. Jacob Tuerk, 19, 800 block of Morgan Towne Way, Venice, FL, was cited for disorderly conduct.  

Burglary at Ralph's Auto Service (500 block of West Chester Pike) on January 25 at 11:51 p.m. Police responded to the above location for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival officers observed a broken pane of glass on a garage door and a golf club inside the door. A vehicle stolen from Philadelphia was located in the parking lot. It was determined a vehicle was stolen from the garage when the owner arrived on scene.  

Simple Assault at the unit block of Upland Road on January 25 at 8:31 p.m. A juvenile reported another juvenile slapped her in the face and pushed her up against a locker after school.

Fraud at the 2400 block of Poplar Road on January 25 at 1:01 p.m. Victim reported that a person known to her opened two loans totaling $25,000 without her permission or knowledge.

Fraud at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on January 25 at 11:52 a.m. Over $500 worth of charges were made with the victim's credit card after she lost her wallet.

Fraud at the unit block of W. Turnbull Avenue on January 25 at 1:41 p.m. Unknown person made numerous purchases with the victim's debit card without the victim's permission or knowledge.   

Disorderly Conduct at Beechwood Station (700 block of Lawson Avenue) on January 26 at 11:32 a.m. David Shepley, 34 and Jeffrey Shepley, 28, 1400 block of Johnson Road, was cited for disorderly conduct and simple trespassing for walking on the train tracks.

Burglary (forced) at the 1400 block of Johnson Road on January 27 at 5:37 p.m. An interior wall was cut and copper piping was removed from a vacant home. The cutting of the pipe caused a gas leak.

Burglary at the 700 block of Lawson Avenue on January 28 at 8:32 p.m. Victim reported noises coming from her basement. Police discovered the rear basement door was open and footprints in the snow. Nothing was reported missing.

Theft at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on January 28 at 3:15 p.m. A projector and accessories were stolen.

Theft at Haverford College (300 block of W. Lancaster Avenue) on January 29 at 1:32 p.m. A wallet containing $28, debit card, credit cards and driver's license was stolen from an unattended backpack.
