A robber who struck the McDonalds in Wayne in October 2008 is facing a 107-year prison sentence.

Devon Brinkley, 24, of Philadelphia, was convicted May 11 of five violent Hobbs Act Robberies carried out over a nine-day period in that month, according to United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

In addition to robbing the McDonalds in the 500 block of West Lancaster Avenue, Brinkley and four co-defendants robbed two Dunkin’ Donuts shops in Philadelphia and a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Pizza Hut in Upper Darby.

Brinkley was convicted of all 11 counts, including five counts of Hobbs Act Robbery, five counts of carrying and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and one count of conspiracy.

Two Car Collision: Rose Valley Road at intersection of Prices Lane at approximately 8 p.m. on May 5. A Chevrolet Suburban was traveling west on Prices Lane approaching a stop sign and a Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Rose Valley Road approaching Prices Lane, State Police said. The Suburban pulled out from Prices Lane onto Rose Valley Road directly in the path of the Sentra, State Police said, and the Sentra struck the left quarter panel and bumper of the Suburban. The Sentra then backed up onto Prices Lane and pulled forward, partially onto the shoulder of Rose Valley Road, coming to a final stop, State Police said. The driver of the Suburban was not injured and the driver of the Sentra suffered minor injuries, State Police said. Both were wearing seat belts.

Auto Theft: An unlocked 2008 Nissan Armada with the engine running was stolen about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, from the parking lot of the on Belmont Avenue. Security-camera footage showed a tall black male in a stocking cap getting into the vehicle and driving away. Another running vehicle was stolen from the same parking lot .

Kids Saved From Kitchen Fire: On  May 8 at approximately 3:50 p.m., a kitchen fire was reported at the Governor Sproul Apartments on Parkway. According to the incident report, there was heavy smoke throughout the third floor of building B and a small fire in the kitchen near the oven had occurred.

One resident had to be persuaded to leave the building, according to the repot, but the fire was safely put out with water from the sink. According to police, the resident had started to cook dinner when one of her grandchildren yelled, “fire.” The woman was able to get everyone out safely, according to the report.

A next door neighbor also used the fire extinguishers on the third floor to put most of the fire out. Police remained on scene until the fire company arrived.
