Man Struck by Car Dies from Injuries

A pedestrian, who was struck up a car Saturday night, died from his injuries on Monday.

A Havertown man, who was struck by a vehicle Saturday night, died from his injuries early Monday morning, according to police.

Michael Betzala, 58, of Havertown, died around 5 a.m. Monday after sustaining serious injuries from being struck by a car Saturday night, Haverford Police Lt. Michael Glenn said.

At about 9:51 p.m. Saturday Betzala was struck in the intersection of West Chester Pike and Darby Road, Glenn said, the driver of the vehicle was traveling south on Darby Road and attempting to make a left turn onto West Chester Pike.

The driver did stop her vehicle and no charges are expected to be filed against her, Glenn said.

Betzala was alone crossing at the intersection.

Betzala sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

Haverford Police were notified around 5 a.m. Monday that Betzala had died from his injuries.

Along with Haverford Police Department, Llanerch Fire Company and EMS responded to the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
