Kennel Club Donates Bulletproof Vest for Haverford K9 Officer

The Delaware County Kennel Club donated a $1,000 bulletproof vest for a Haverford Township Police Department K9 officer.

The Delaware County Kennel Club donated a $1,000 bulletproof vest for a Haverford Township Police Department K9 officer.

The police department now has four K9 officers: Jango, Barr, Jager and Kato, who finished his training this month.

The kennel club has donated about 30 vests, which are also stab resistant, to municipal and state police departments, said Marge Remolde of the kennel club.

"The kennel club has been very supportive of the K9 officers," said Haverford's chief Carmen Pettine.

Haverford Township purchased the vests for the first two dogs. But after hearing that news, Remolde said the club stepped in and has purchased the second two vests.

"Our mission is to support the canines," she said.
