Havertown Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting Wife

A Havertown man who shot his wife in the shoulder over the summer pleaded guilty to aggravated assault this week, the Delaware County Daily Times is reporting.

Though his wife, after she recovered from the wound, requested that all charges be withdrawn, Geral Ray Moss Jr. faced charges of attempted murder, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and possessing an instrument of crime, in addition to the aggravated assault charge. Under his open plea to the later charge, all the other charges were withdrawn.

According to Haverford Township Police, At 1:13 p.m. on July 13 911 dispatchers sent police to the 500 block of Wales Road after they received a hang-up call.

While police were on the way to the scene, the dispatcher called the residence back and a woman answered and said she had been shot by her husband.

Moments later, Geral Moss himself called 911 back and said he had shot his wife. The dispatcher kept Moss on the phone until police arrived and talked him into surrendering.

His wife was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and treated for a gunshot wound to her right shoulder. She was initially listed as being in critical, but stable, condition.

Moss faces sentencing on December 3.
