Havertown Doctor Arrested on Drug Charges

Police said a local ophthalmologist was growing marijuana in his home.

A local doctor and his daughter were arrested Wednesday and face charges of drug possession and conspiracy.

Acting on a tip, Haverford Township Police raided the Sagamore Road, Havertown, home of Dr. Paul Ezell on Wednesday morning, NBC reported.

Both Ezell, 58, and his daughter Victoria Ezell, 23, were taken into custody, The Philadelphia Inquirer said.

At the house, police found more than a dozen marijuana plants, including one that was more than 2 feet tall, NBC said. Also in the house were scales used to weigh drugs and more than $1,200 in cash.

Paul Ezell is an ophthalmologist with an office on West Chester Pike in Havertown.

Both Ezells were scheduled to be arraigned later Wednesday on charges of drug dealing, drug possession and criminal conspiracy.
