Haverford Man Faces 225 Child Porn Charges

Something a 71-year-old Haverford man allegedly did led police right to him.

A 71-year-old Havertown man is facing 225 felony counts on child pornography charges after an investigation by the Haverford Township Police Department led to his arrest on Wednesday.

Police began investigating Edward Jacobs on Jan. 28 after getting a call from a local computer-repair business that was working on a computer hard drive.

According to a Haverford Police press release: "while the computer technicians were repairing the computer they discovered photos which appeared to depict children engaged in sexual acts. These technicians contacted the Police Department to report their discovery. A search warrant was obtained and the hard-drive of the computer was seized and placed into evidence."

Haverford detectives and the FBI Philadelphia Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory searched the hard drive. Police say it contained 1,797 pornographic and seductive images. Police say 225 of the images found were child pornography.

Haverford Police first interviewed, and eventually arrested Jacobs based on what he told them and evidence the crime lab found on the computer hard drive.
