Grinch on the Loose: Police Report Theft from Church Poor Box

An unknown amount of money was stolen from Annunciation Church on Dec. 17.

The following incident reports were provided by the Haverford Township Police Department. Arrest does not suggest conviction.

Vandalism at the 1200 block of Bon Air Avenue on December 12 at 6:50 p.m. Christmas lights were cut.

Aggravated Assault at the 600 block of Valley View Road on December 13 at 2:50 a.m. Police reported to the above location for a domestic assault. The victim reported his brother, Benjamin Garfield, came into his room and attempted to steal his prescribed medication. When he refused Garfield threw glasses, ceramic bowls and a lamp at him causing lacerations. The victim attempted to call police and Garfield grabbed the phone away from him. He was able to lock himself in the bathroom and call 911. Police arrived and Garfield was taken into custody. Garfield was arrested and charged.

Theft at the 500 block of Greenview Lane on December 13 at 7:51 a.m. Six tools were stolen from an unlocked tool box in the back of the victim's truck.

Bicycle Theft at the 300 block of Mill Road on December 13 at 8:36 a.m.

Bicycle Theft at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on December 13 at 4:23 p.m.

Theft at the 100 block of W. Township Line Road on December 14 at 7:30 a.m. Five rolls of steel insulated copper wire was stolen from the construction site.

Vandalism at the 600 block of Fox Fields Road on December 14 at 7:54 p.m. A vehicle was egged.

Theft at Haverford College (unit block of Hannum Drive) on December 15 at 1:03 p.m. The victim reported money was missing from her bedroom.

Theft at the 100 block of Rodney Circle on December 15 at 9:05 p.m. 12/15 An unlocked vehicle was entered and loose change was stolen.

Theft at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on December 15 at 1:19 p.m. A wallet containing $40, credit cards, social security card and drivers license was stolen from an unsecured locker.

Identity Theft at the 1300 block of Harrington Road on December 16 at 11:45 a.m. A victim reported that an unknown person opened a credit card account using his identity and made over $500 in purchases.

Criminal Mischief at the 300 block of Spring Road on December 16 at 12:46 a.m. A vehicle window was shattered.   

Burglary (no force) at the 2400 block of Hirst Terrace on December 17 at 12:09 a.m. Unknown persons entered the victim's apartment and stole a drill set. 

Burglary (no force) at the 2400 block of Hirst Terrace on December 17 at 12:09 a.m. Golf clubs were stolen from the victim's bedroom.

Theft at the 100 block of Lee Circle on December 17 at 3:19 p.m. An unlocked vehicle was entered and loose change was stolen.

Theft at Annunciation Church (400 block of Brookline Boulevard) on December 17 at 9:01 a.m. An unknown amount of cash was stolen from two poor boxes.

Fraud at the 100 block of E. Turnbull Avenue on December 17 at 5:53 p.m. Unknown persons opened ten credit card accounts and made numerous purchases using the victim's identity.   

Criminal Mischief at the 1200 block of Bon Air Road on December 17 at 12:44 p.m. Christmas lights were cut.

Theft at the 200 block of West Chester Pike on December 18 at 6:25 a.m. A truck was entered and tools valued at over $1,000 were stolen.
