Fraudulently Claiming a Child for Taxes and Reports of Identity Theft in Havertown

Haverford Township Police are investigating a number of reported incidents of fraud and identity theft.

Haverford Township Police are investigating a number of reported incidents of fraud and identity theft.

  • A resident of the 100 block of Lewis Road reported Dec. 11 that someone opened a credit card account in her name without her permission or knowledge.  

  • A store employee of Cozzi Jewelers in the 700 block of West Chester Pike reported on Dec. 12 that someone ordered earrings and a bracelet by phone and paid with an invalid credit card.

  • A resident of the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue reported Dec. 12 that someone fraudulently claimed her son on their income tax return for the past two years.

  • A resident of the unit block of W. Wilmont Avenue reported Dec. 15 that someone attempted to open a credit card account using his identity. Someone also made a large purchase with his credit card without his permission or knowledge.

  • A resident of the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue reported Dec. 6 that someone opened a credit card account using his name and made numerous purchases without his permission of knowledge.
