DUI Taskforce to Patrol On Memorial Day Weekend

Checkpoints and DUI patrols will take place in Delaware County.

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be performing patrols on Memorial Day Weekend, according to a press release issued to the media.

The press release was sent out by the  Friday morning.

"The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers; roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways," stated the press release.

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce includes six municipalities—Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor, Springfield and Upper Darby townships.

The press release also stated the taskforce has arrested 69 drivers for DUI of alcohol or drugs and has “issued 26 citations for underage drinking and 376 citations and 365 warnings for other motor vehicle violations.”
