Driver Killed In Morning Rush Hour Accident

Two-car accident leaves one dead, police say.

Haverford Township police and paramedics say that one driver died in a two-car accident at the intersection North Eagle Road and Maryland Avenue on Thursday.

The driver of a two-door, gray Chrysler Sebring traveling on Maryland Avenue was struck by a red SUV going down Eagle Road, police say.

Haverford Township Paramedic Chief Jim McCans and police said the driver of the Sebring died and the medical examiner was on the scene. The condition of the other driver is unknown but it is believed that the driver is at a local hospital.

There were no passengers in the two vehicles, officials said. The accident occurred around 8 a.m. and police closed Eagle Road from Annabelle Avenue until Maryland Avenue at one point.

"It was a powerful accident. There was a significant impact to both vehicles," McCans said.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
