Havertown Man Charged In Copper Theft

A Havertown man has been charged with stealing copper wiring from a cell phone tower near Teikoku restaurant in southern Willistown.

Christopher I. Carminati, 27, was allegedly carrying a duffel bag full of wire when police found him. He has been charged with theft, defiant trespass and related charges.

Willistown Police responded to a call of a suspicious man pushing a trash can through the restaurant parking lot on March 25 at 1:41 p.m. They found Carminati along West Chester Pike nearby, according to a police statement:

(Carminati) had a duffel bag which contained rolled copper ground wiring. Carminati also had bolt cutters in his possession. Willistown Police were able to identify that the copper wiring had been taken from a cellular tower site on the property of Teikoku Restaurant.

Carminati was arraigned before Judge William Kraut and remanded to Chester County Prison in lieu of posting $7,500 cash bail at the time of this release. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 28 in front of Judge Chester Darlington.
