White Dog Café Founder Speaks at Haverford Library

Judy Wicks, founder of Philadelphia's White Dog Café, will discuss her book Good Morning, Beautiful Business on Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at the Haverford Township Free Library.

According to her bio on the library's website, "Wicks became a pioneer in the local food movement in Philadelphia and was a business trailblazer in running The White Dog through paying a living wage, mentoring inner-city high school students, recycling and composting, solar heated hot water, eco-friendly soaps and office supplies, and purchasing 100% of electricity from renewable sources, the first business in Pennsylvania to do so."

Good Morning, Beautiful Business is described as "a memoir about the evolution of an entrepreneur who would not only change her neighborhood, but would also change her world—helping communities far and wide create local, living economies that value people and place as much as commerce and that make communities not just interesting and diverse and prosperous, but also resilient."
