HAITI:: Food crisis at St. Vincent's escalates
LOCAL charity request support
You may have seen what I posted on Facebook (Red Thread Promise) about the crisis at St. Vincent's in Haiti. If you did, you are already aware of the dire circumstances there. If not, I wanted to share a critical message.
I've been to Haiti many times over the past 4 years and have grown very close to the kids at St. Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children in Port-au-Prince.

I just learned that St. Vincent's electricity has been cut off because the administration is diverting the $$$ normally paid to keep the lights on to FOOD. The loss of a major donor has caused a dire food shortage at St. Vincent's. Very hard decisions are being made as to who gets a meal and when.
It has completely broken my heart and I'm asking for your help. I'm asking for 2 things:
Find out what's happening in Haverford-Havertownwith free, real-time updates from Patch.
1. SHARE this message. Tell others of the need. Show them the pictures of St. Vincent’s kids from The Red Thread Promise's blog / website / Facebook / Instagram. Show them the info graphic. If each of us shared this message with 10 friends / co-workers, what a difference we could make!!!
2. GIVE something. Donations of any size help! It costs approximately $6000 to feed all residential staff and students for 1 full month. That breaks down as such: $2.50 pays for 3 meals.
In my opinion, NO ONE should go without sufficient food – ever. I'm asking you to join me in doing our part to feed the kids and start 2014 on a positive note for our brothers and sisters at St. Vincent’s.
