My Children's Teeth, Memories

My youngest has lost his first baby tooth. This brought back a flood of memories ...

The past couple of weeks have been super crazy. My youngest son lost his first tooth. This will be the last first tooth that we will experience in this house. How sad.

Of course it brought up many happy memories and some sad ones. When my daughter was teething, she had a very difficult time. She did not get any teeth until she was 6 months old and then did not get any more until she was over a year old. She then lived off Motrin and Tylenol to help her get over the pain. She was also seen chewing on everything, including the little syringes that were used to squirt the medication in babies’ mouths.

After a few months, my son decided to join in the fun and I had two babies teething at the same time. They would take turns waking up in the middle of the night to express exactly how they felt about the teething process. During that time, I got a lot of advice from friends and family on how to make the babies more comfortable. I was told to alternate Tylenol and Motrin.

I was also told to use some of the homeopathic tablets. Apparently you put these things in the baby’s mouth and they dissolved and helped the teething baby feel more comfortable. What I never got was how do I get more comfortable? How do I get more sleep? Now that I look back, I would not change a thing.

I wish that they were all babies again and our biggest problem was dealing with was trying to keep them comfortable because their gums where hurting. They grow up so fast and now my youngest child has lost his first tooth. I am not ready for the next step in our journey. There are so many issues that one must deal with when raising a child.

I hope that I am strong enough to take that next step.

I agree with you, it was really a sad experience to have, knowing that you have witnessed the steps of teething process and now that your youngest son have lost his first tooth it would be as painful as it is in your part. I suggest that you and your son visit your pediatric dentist. Concord nc is where I lived at and I did the same thing for my daughter.
