SHELL SHOCKED Documentary Screening in Philadelphia

Shell Shocked, the award-winning film documentary on the impact of violence on urban youth, will be screened at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center School. Free and open to the public, the 54-minute film, which focuses on the youth in New Orleans, shows the kind of trauma from gun violence experienced in many cities across the country, including Philadelphia. Immediately following the film, its director, John Richie, will participate in a discussion with students from the School and representatives from the NJ Million Mom March; Mothers In Charge; and CeasefirePA.  A Q&A session will follow. The program is co-sponsored by the NJ Million Mom March Chapters of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Philadelphia-based Mothers In Charge and CeasefirePA.  Questions prior to the event may be directed to 609-882-3711 or mercermmm@gmail.com

Caution: This documentary could prove stressful to those who have experienced gun violence, especially those who have lost a loved one.  Middle and high school students may attend at their parents' discretion.
