If your idea of a good time involves spine-chilling suspense or the heart-in-your-mouth thrill of a scary movie, get ready for the Friday Fright Fest from the Media Film Festival on October 26!

The Fest will take place at Delaware County Institute of Science on Veteran’s Square in Media from 7:30 to 10pm. With its gothic nineteenth-century atmosphere, straight out of a Creature Double Feature, DCIS offers the perfect setting for an evening of ghoulish fun.

The Fright Fest includes several short films—some by local filmmakers—as well as the 1959 horror classic, The House on Haunted Hill, starring Vincent Price. Critics called this classic “Campy and creepy in equal measures.”  The House on Haunted Hill is being presented with its legendary “EMERGO!” effect used in the film’s original theatrical release as ghosts fly right out of the screen.

The frightening film fare includes:

  • Attackazoids – directed by Brian Lonano; A woman fights for survival against a relentless Giant Killer Robot Attack! Presented with the legendary “EMERGO” effect!

  • Institute of Séance – directed by Kevin Corcoran; The Director of the County Institute of Science is found murdered. Can the victim return from beyond the grave to offer a clue to her own demise? And if she does, will she come alone?

  • Devil in the Woods – directed by Douglas Scott Johnson; Does the Jersey Devil exist?  A young woman and a mysterious hitchhiker are about to find out. Starring Norman Macera

  • He Dies at the End – directed by Damian McCarthy; You already know what’s going to happen. But will you withstand the shock? Filmed in Ireland

  • Night Terrors – directed by Taryn Hough; A short film about a young man who experiences disturbing dreams. Can he figure out the difference between reality and a dream before it’s too late?

  • The Record – directed by Takeya Also; A group of college students help their friend investigate the mysterious death of her grandfather. What they find is more than a mystery . . .

  • The Survivor – directed by Timothy Salmon; How do you survive, when nothing is the same, people disappear, and even the sky has changed?

  • Mary’s Laughter – directed by John Paxton Jr.; When you hear the laughter it may already be too late. Starring Gary Gustin

  • Feature Presentation: The House on Haunted Hill, directed by William Castle, starring Vincent Price; a sinister millionaire invites five strangers to his mansion, where seven murders have occurred and makes them an offer: $10,000 to anyone who can stay the entire night.  What happens when the doors are locked at midnight?

Tickets to the Friday Fright Fest are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Media Youth Film Initiative, a new program teaching local teens the craft of filmmaking.  The Fest is a program of the Media Film Festival and the Media Arts Council.
